Information

Governors Island, NYC 10004.
I cannot tell you how cool I think it is that this island has a zip code. There will be plenty more posts from my evening there. It is a great place to visit and it is free, free, free. Even the ferry to get there.
For some reason this image struck me as being rather comical. Do I trust the information center with the broken clock askew in the window?

Woman on a Pink Couch

DUMBO, Brooklyn, NY 11201
We found this beauty at the Brooklyn Flea. The couch, the other beauty is my sister-in-law. We should really convince her husband that she needs this couch. Don’t you think it suits her perfectly?
I know that Leaving the Zip Code has been sleeping for awhile. Now that I am out more in the nice weather you should see more regular postings. As ever, feel free to submit.

Possible v. Impossible

Guest Post: Neal Shrier. Vocational Advancement Center in Brighton MA 02134
It’s been a long time since Leaving the Zip Code has seen any activity. Partly because I have not only not left the zip code much, but hardly the basement.
Gladly it is spring and I am on the move. So, expect regular posts here again.
This great shot was taken outside the Vocational Advancement Center, Brighton Ma. A quick plug for this great organization from their website and a shout out to my buddy Neal for sending this in.
For over 50 years, the Vocational Advancement Center (VAC), formerly the Vocational Adjustment Center, has provided training and employment services to people with disabilities and others in need of employment assistance to achieve career goals and to improve their quality of life. VAC’s success is attributed to effective planning, preparation, quality assistance, persistence, and attentive customer service.

Paper Moon Pez

Paper Moon Diner. Baltimore, MD 21211
This looks like a very cool place. My bro snapped this shot with his blackberry. I simply love this picture and must eat hear the next time I am in town.
Gary is a huge fan of Pez, this looks like a shrine to his passion.
Check out their website, lots of fun, albeit a tad noisy.

Creation of the Other Adam

Noho. NYC. January 2009.
Leaving the Zip Code has been taking a little blog nap for awhile and I thought this was a great shot to wake it up with.
I love this take on Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam. The way it is framed by the thickly painted bricks really makes this something to see. I wonder how many people walk down this street (I think it is on Lafayette) everyday and don’t notice this.
This is why I always carry a camera!

This is one of many shots that I took of this very moving memorial. I will be posting more in the days to come.
